In our previous March 21st Stock Market Update & Asbury Investment Management Video, entitled S&P 500: Must Rally Now Or Begin A Correction, we said that “tactical underlying support is currently situated 1% just below the market at SPX … and represents the March 2020 uptrend line and the 50-day moving average.”
Chart 1 below, an updated version of the one from that report, shows that the US broad market index bottomed four days later, at 3854 on March 25th, and has since streaked 7.2% higher to close at 4129 on Friday (Apr 9th). The chart also shows that this Tactical support area is currently situated 3% to 5% below the market at 3980 to 3914.
Meanwhile, our Asbury 6, one of two in-house Tactical models we use to indicate when to be invested, turned Positive on March 11th. The “A6”, shown below through Friday, April 9th, is is an objective, data-driven assessment of the internal health of the US stock market that we update every business day in our password-protected Research Center.
So, bottom line, even though the S&P 500 has risen by an incredible 88% since Mar 2020, the latest data indicate that the current Tactical uptrend is still healthy and intact. As long as this remains the case, we will maintain our current exposure to US equities, which for the most part has been intact since November 2020.
